Helen L. Jugovic

Helen L. Jugović [Haz Clic aqui la biografia en espanol] is an Associate Attorney in our Immigration Law Division, which is led by Jeremy McKinney, Board Certified Immigration Law Specialist. As manager and lead immigration attorney in our Wilmington office, Helen counsels both individuals and businesses in all aspects of immigration law, including citizenship, employment-based immigration, and removal defense.
Having worked in immigration-related areas since 1999, Helen been an immigration attorney since 2006, counseling clients in both English and Spanish. As a first-generation American, she also speaks Croatian.
Helen obtained her J.D. from Wake Forest University School of Law in 2006, with awards for mentoring and promoting the concerns of women in the legal profession. Prior to law school, she was a business/corporate immigration paralegal in Chicago, IL (2000-2003). She graduated summa cum laude from Lake Forest College near Chicago, Illinois, in 2000 with a B.A. in Psychology and minor in International Relations.
Because immigration falls under federal law, Helen is able to represent individual and business clients throughout the U.S. and abroad in their U.S. immigration matters. She is admitted to practice in the NC Courts as well as the Federal District Court for the Middle District of NC. She is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA), the NC Bar Association and the Greensboro Bar Association. Since 2007, Ms. Jugovic has served as the AILA Carolinas Chapter ICE Liaison. She has been been a featured speaker at both the AILA Paralegal Conference in Washington, D.C. and the AILA Annual Conference. She has also co-authored articles for seminar publications.
Helen devotes much of her time to community education and service, in both English and Spanish. She has coordinated AILA volunteer attorney participation for free naturalization clinics and spoken at schools and non-governmental organizations on topics including worksite enforcement and powers of attorney for immigrants.
